Did you know that pet’s need blood too? Our hospital treats numerous patients throughout the year that require blood or plasma transfusions. Pet’s that suffer from trauma, anemia and coagulation/bleeding disorders are the most commonly seen patients that require these services.
Our hospital has maintained a blood donor program that has been comprised mainly of staff pets in the past. In the past year, our need for blood has risen significantly and we are in need of more donors. Donors that meet the eligibility requirements receive free yearly bloodwork and a year’s supply of free heartworm and flea preventative that is donated by Merial. For each donation, donors also receive a free bag of food donated by Hill’s and $25.
